Khaddi is made by hand in homes in Indian villages, using a cotton yarn spun on a wheel, or "charkha". It is an adaptable fabric with a rough texture. The cloth is usually hand-woven using cotton, silk, and wool. It stays cool in summers and warm in winters. Khadi cotton fabric is used to create a variety of Indian ethnic garments.
